Arthur Collins Sr. was born to David Collins Sr. and Rosa Crawford Collins on October 06, 1950, in Slidell, Louisiana.

Arthur Collins Sr. departed this life on Tuesday October 08, 2024, at age 74, at his resident. 

Mother of his son, Lee Collins. Father of Arthur (Raquanza) Collins II of Oakland CA., Stepdaughters: Kimberly Renee Jackson of Oakland CA., Theresa Griffith of Dallas TX. Stepson: Marcel Lamont Jackson of Oakland CA. Arthur had five grandchildren: Camille Rosa Collins, Aulani Maria Collins, Destiny Nicole Collins, Leai Marie Collins, and Arthur Louis Collins III

Son of the late David Collins Sr. and Rosa Crawford Collins of Slidell LA. Survived by eight siblings (3 brothers and five sisters), David (Lucille) Collins Jr., Urselle (Leon-deceased) Cryer, Alphonse Collins, Ernest Collins, Twins- Geraldine Collins and Joyce Collins, Ruby Collins, and Elizabeth Collins, and a host of nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Adolph (Butch) Collins.

Arthur attended St. Tammany High School and is a native of Slidell Louisiana. He moved to Oakland CA. In his early days and where he called home. In the recent years he came back to Slidell to retire and be with his family.

Arthur had a beautiful soul, and he met no strangers, everyone who crossed his path loved his fun-loving spirit. He was known for being “best dressed” and matching from head to toe, and do not forget his hats. He was a given hearted person who, met no strangers. He will give you a $2.00 bill if he comes across your path. This was a way to show his love to his family and friends. He enjoyed being with his friends, family, and siblings to laugh about the good old times. 

In his younger days, he enjoyed dancing, cooking, and anything outdoors. He loved watching football and the teams he loved to watch were the Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49’s, New Orleans Saints, and LSU Tigers. 

Arthur, as many called “Art,” dad, brother, always had some laughter to give and his grandkids love their “paw paw.” Something that describes Arthur, the dad, the paw paw, the brother, and uncle is when a great man dies, for years the light he leaves behind him, lies on the path of men! He fought a good fight, and always letting his light shine in the midst of his life journey. 

Scripture describing Arthur life: Romans 12:18 living a peaceably life, serving, and loving others. (Love in Action) is what he did.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services held on October 19, 2024, at The El-Bethel Worship Center-57361 Allen Rd, Slidell, LA. 70461. Visitation from 9 am to 11 am and services start at 11am. Interment will be in the Porter Cemetery, Indian Village Road, Slidell, LA.
