He was born November 9, 1933 to the union of the late Henry and Mamie Leverette in Stateline, MS. On April 4, 2024 he was called home to rest with his personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Odell was a child of God and accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. As a young child Odell loved riding horses and was spoiled by his older siblings, and cousins.
In 1851 he moved to New Orleans, LA with his oldest sister. He then married his former wife the late Bernice Brown in 1953, and to that union they had three daughters, Patricia Ann, Beverly Ann and Dorothy Denise. He also had a son named Michael Burd Sr. In 1955, Odell was drafted into the United States Army, where he happily served his country in Germany. in his career he worked at Riverside Lumber Company and also, Boh Bros Construction Company as a Truck driver for over 30 years.
He leaves to cherish his daughter Beverly; his grandchildren Delisha, Tonya, Wilfred, Carvin, Christy, Keith (Jackie), Michael Jr., Miguel, Eboni and Keisha; 15 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
