Towada Taylor McCloud Newkirk was born on April 26, 1970, in Dunleith, MS to the late Willie Taylor, Sr. and Mackie B. Taylor. She accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Reverend A. T. Thomas.
Towada was educated in the Leland Mississippi School District, graduating with the class of 1988. She continued her education at the University of Southern Mississippi where she received a Bachelor in Elementary Education degree. She was an educator for over 25 years. Her love for children was unmatched. She called her students her “babies”. At the time of her death, she was a pre-kindergarten teacher in the Picayune School District. Towada married the love of her life, Deacon Thomas Newkirk, on February 15, 2003. They were married for 21 years. Not only was Towada a loving wife, a mother, a sister, and more, but she was also an entrepreneur. She owned “TeeNTee Creations” who was a master craftiest with a vision who brought it to life.
Towada was preceded in death by her father Willie Taylor, Sr.; two (2) sons: Matthew Newkirk and JaKaiyla Lowe; one (1) daughter, Jayden Newkirk; and two (2) brothers: Willie Keithley and Willie Taylor, Jr.
She leaves to cherish a loving and devoted husband, Deacon Thomas Newkirk; four (4) sons: JaTreyllis (“Trey”) of Las Vegas, NV; Jonathan (Samantha) Newkirk of Fayetteville, NC; Carlos McCloud of Gulfport, MS, and JaKarei Newkirk of Picayune, MS; one daughter (1) Valerie Newkirk of Hattiesburg, MS; her mother, Mackie B. Taylor of Leland, MS; four (4) sisters: Willie Mae (L. C.) Fordham of Greenville, MS; Bernice (Eric) Smith of Greenville, MS; Bessie Taylor of Leland, MS; and Tearise (Terrick) Allen of Greenville, MS; one (1) brother: Orenthal (Kendra) Watson of Memphis, TN; four (4) granddaughters: Aubre, Krysten, Nala, and Evelyn; four (4) grandsons: Matthew Jr., Amannueil, Giovanni, and Kiersyn; two (2) God children: Asya Allen and Zander Richardson; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The Repast will be in the Fellowship Hall of the Church immediately after Interment.
